Fibromyalgia cannot be cured, but it can be managed. Patients—many of whom are “sick and tired” of being sick and tired—must be motivated to take a proactive role in learning how to minimize the impact this disorder can have on their life. Working closely with a doctor who is experienced in the treatment of fibromyalgia is key. But patients need not stop there. Fibromyalgia support groups, whether online or in person, are a place to communicate with others who “understand,” and expanding knowledge of fibromyalgia is easy, thanks to numerous online resources.
Participation in support groups can provide an opportunity to reach out to others who have had similar challenges and foster an improved understanding of how to manage the condition. To view the National Fibromyalgia Association Support Group listing click here
